Standard Riding Lessons

Beginner horsemanship lessons at Zuck Farms are taught by Heidi Zuck. Having ridden and trained horses for as long as she can remember, she enjoys sharing her passion and knowledge for horses with new students. 'Horsemanship lessons,' as opposed to 'riding lessons,' begin with learning basic horse handling, grooming and tacking, and then moving into riding as the student becomes familiar and comfortable around the animals. Students learn horse anatomy and psychology on an ongoing basis. Each student progresses at their own pace, and all lessons are private. Parents of younger children may observe, wander the property, or bring a book and relax.

All ages are welcome, but regular, structured lessons are only recommended for age 6 and up. Under age 6, we prefer what we call "pony rides" or "farm visits," where we spend time with the horses in the barn, but the focus is on having a positive, relaxed experience and the times are more limited and flexible. With an indoor arena, outdoor arena, and round pen, riding options are wide open, regardless of the weather. Helmets are provided, but students are requested to wear boots with short heels.
