In September we ran a pilot activity with the Springhill Retirement Center. Fifteen brave souls came out to the farm for a barn tour, grooming demonstration, interaction with our horses, and for the most daring, a ride on Ben! Everyone had plenty of time to wander the property, pet the horses, check out the washstall and feed room, and enjoy a box lunch under the trees. Heidi brought Ben to the round pen for a riding demo, and then anyone who was willing was given the change to 'hop up' on Ben for a ride around the corral. Ben was a trooper, standing patiently for everyone to mount up, and really hamming it up for the cameras!

We were happy to provide a place for the Springhill residents to relax and enjoy themselves, maybe relive some memories from farm days past, and to get some exercise with the horses. We intend to build upon this pilot and develop a framework for future senior visits.
